This is the seventh collage in a art series exploring the luminaries and planets in our solar system.
The approximately 4.6 billion-year-old star at the centre of our solar system is located in the Milky Way galaxy in a spiral arm called the Orion-Cygnus Spur. The hot glowing ball of hydrogen and helium is 109 times the diameter of the Earth.
The Sun has been venerated throughout human history and solar deities play a critical role in many religions and myths. The Sun was associated with the Roman God Sol and the Greek God Helios.
The ruler of light orders the seasons of the year and signifies the Soul. The Sun represents the light of the intellect, Father, paternal, authority, nobility, leadership and persons of high honour. It governs public reputation, judgment, and is connected to divination and oaths.
