The Moon
- Year: June 2023
- Collection: Astrological Inspiration
This is the sixth collage in a series of art exploring the planets and luminaries in our solar system.
The Moon is a cratered, rocky satellite approximately a quarter the size of Earth and the fifth largest natural satellite of our Solar System. It has a 27.3 day orbit around the Earth, illuminating the night by reflecting the Solar light.
The Moon’s cycle of phases has influenced culture, calendars, art, ritual and mythology throughout history. The Moon is associated with the Ancient Roman Goddess Luna, and the Ancient Greek Goddesses Selene, Artemis and Hekate.
The celestial Goddess governs fortune, the entire physical body, conception, life, the Mother, Maternal, matters of the household, gathering of crowds, wanderings, and voyages/travel.
